The above character list will help you choose what classes you should to make your characters.

The stats are based at the post-game MAX LEVEL.

Choosing your class based on the Evade Stat.

Ranking of Characters Based on the
Highest Evade Stat

(The following characters have a total of 56 or higher base)
(*my recommended class)
(Elliott) エリオット - Scout* Shock Engineer Armored Tech Sniper Gunner
(Ymca) イムカ - Scout Shock Lancer* Engineer Armored Tech Sniper Gunner Fencer
 (Audrey) オドレイ- Scout Lancer* Engineer
(Cosette) コゼット - Scout Lancer Engineer*
 (Alphonse) アルフォンス - Scout*
 (Nagisa) ナギサ - Shock*
(Kurt) クルト - Shock* Sniper (Note: Ironically “Evade” doesn’t matter as a Sniper)
 (Shin) シン - Scout* Fencer
 (Alysse) エイリアス - Scout*
 (Leila) レイラ - Shock*
 (Amy) エイミー - Scout*

In my opinion, Evade is not as important as Accuracy, but it can be a very important stat if you equip an accessory that boosts the Evade stat, so that your Unit evades the majority of the time.  Elliot and Ymca are two of the best characters to put those accessories on, but I also recommend using it on Alysse as well (especially so if you choose to get Giselle instead of Elliot).

Choosing your class based on the Accuracy Stat

Ranking of Characters Based on the
Highest Accuracy Stat

(The following characters have a total of 67 or higher base)
(*my recommended class)
(Ada) エイダ - Scout Lancer Sniper* Gunner
(Gloria) グロリア - Scout Lancer* Sniper Gunner
(Serge) セルジュ - Scout Lancer Engineer* Sniper Gunner
(Irumari) イルマリ - Scout Lancer Engineer* Sniper
(Zeri) ゼリ - Scout Shock* Lancer Engineer Sniper (While Zeri’s Sniper has the best stats, his high HP and Accuracy stats
 suit the shock trooper more).
(Margaret) マルギット - Scout Lancer* Sniper*
(Aside from Ada or Gloria, Margaret is your best Lancer)
(Brixam) ブリクサム - Scout* Shock Lancer Engineer Sniper (Brixam can be an excellent Sniper but you will need an
excellent Scout more in the later missions.)
 (Alicia) アリシア - Scout*
(Although weaker than in VC1, Alicia’s stats and Potentials
still make her one of the best Scouts)
 (Eleanor) エレノア- Armored Tech Sniper*
(Aside from Ada, Eleanor is your best Sniper)
 (Gisele) ジゼル - Shock* Sniper
 (Leon) レオン- Lancer*
 (Cedric) セドリック - Shock* Gunner
(The DLC or the final ACE Shocktrooper weapons make Gunners
less powerful than Shocktroopers. Give Cedric a Ruhm and he
 will be your Boss Killer!)
 (Balderan) バルドレン - Shock* Lancer
 (Valerie) ヴァレリー - Scout* Shock
 (Avan) アバン - Scout* Shock
 (Rosie) ロージー - Shock* Lancer
(This choice should be obvious for VC1 veterans)
 (Maximillian) マクシミリアン - Lancer* Fencer
 (Zahar) ザハール - Shock Gunner*
(Although his stats are not better as Gunner,
I recommend it due to the Potential that stops his movement)
 (Alysse) エイリアス- Scout*
(Tip: Being a Valkyria give her DLC weapon like Regen and
accessory with extra AP, this will allow you to use
interception fire more to kill enemies, and damage tanks
more due to its high anti-armor rounds)
(Dight) ダイト- Medic Armored Tech* Sniper
(Note: Ironically Accuracy doesn’t matter as an Armored Tech)

Sometimes it’s difficult to choose what class you should make your unit.  Generally speaking, VC3 does a great job of balancing out the classes, but the above list will give you an edge in getting that “S-Rank.”

New Edition of Valkyria Chronicles 3 coming soon.

I would recommend holding out till the end of November 2011 to buy DLC or the game, as SEGA recently announced they are making an “Extra Edition” that bundles previously released DLC and 3 new Episodes. For the details check out the following blog:

Beginning Player Tutorials – Part 3 The Trainer

Tutorial – The Trainer

1. Go To the “Home Base” (For more info: See “Tutorial- Home Base”)
2. Press Right and go to the Bottom Area. Press Circle.

Options Displayed:
Option 1 – Train Skills
Option 2 – Change Class
Option 3 – Assign Potentials
Option 4 – Master Table (Need to view this to unlock “Super potentials” for characters)

Note: In later chapters, Assign Potentials will also allow you to make a unit an Officer.
This Officer must be a 2nd or 3rd Tier class and deploying the unit will grant you one
more CP per turn.

Part 1: Buying Orders and Training Skills (which also unlocks Orders)
Choose Option 1 – Train Skills and Press Circle.

Orders will NOT have a level.
You can only learn ONE unique “Order” per chapter, and not every chapter has one.
If you advance a Skills enough then related Orders will become unlocked.

In this tutorial video, I have selected to learn Chapter 5’s unique Order
“回復リミット解除”. This (1CP) Order improves the healing ability of
ragnite for ONE unit.

I have also trained “射撃訓練” to Level 25. You learn “一斉精密狙撃”
when you train this skill to Level 24. This (2CP) Order adds 15 to
the accuracy of ALL units in the Area where you use the order.
After your training Press X to go back to the Trainer Menu.

Tutorial Video:

Part 2: How to assign a previously learnt Battle Potential
Choose Option 3 – “Assign Potentials” and Press Circle.
Pressing Left or Right on the Control Pad to select different classes.
Press Up and Down on the Control Pad to select the Unit.
Pressing Circle will choose the unit and then you can select
one previously learnt potentials(Class/High/Super) and assign it to
your 4th Battle Potential Slot.

In tutorial video(how to buy orders) I have assigned the 3rd Scout Potential “迎撃耐性”
to 4th slot, which allows Riela to reduce interception damage.

Remember to press (X) at the Trainer Menu to return to the Home Base.

Part 3: How to Change Class. Choose option 2 and then select the unit. You will be given a list
of all the classes that are currently unlocked. Classes get unlocked at certain chapters once you
research (buy) their new class of weapon. Certain charcters get bonuses to their stats (in blue)
based on their preferred class. In all honesty, it makes little difference, but for S-ranking you
may wish to choose a character that specializes in the class. When you change your class the unit’s
equipment is set to the default, and the 4th battle potential is cleared if is part of the regular
class potentials (I recommend making the Super Potential Critical Strike and equiping that whenever
possible).

In this tutorial video I change Gloria from a Lancer into a Shock-Trooper,a Sniper and eventually
back to Lancer. Notice how Lancer and Armored Tech Classes have blue numbers in the
middle column. This means the class is a preferred one and so it has additional bonuses.
How to Change Class Video:

Part 4: Unlocking a High or Super Potential. Once you have the necessary requirements*, go to the Master Table option (Bottom Menu Option) and choose your character.(See my guide):

*How to get the requirements please refer to my guide:

Valkyria Chronicles 3 – Unlock Potentials Mini-Guide

If you meet the requirements, then the ability is automatically unlocked. Assuming you can read
Japanese, the Master Table also describes what the potentials do. Here is a video unlock the “Critical Attack” Potential based on Scout and Shock-Trooper potentials.

Beginning Player Tutorials – Part 2 Carissa’s Shop

Tutorial – Weapons + Tank R&D
1. Go To the “Home Base” (For more info: See “Tutorial- Home Base”)
2. Press Right and then UP to go the Middle Area. Press Circle.

Options Displayed:
Option 1 – Buy Personnel Weapons and Accessories (This includes “Research”)
Option 2 – Buy Tank Parts
Option 3 – Equip Personnel Weapons and Accessories
Option 4 – Equip Tank Parts (Weapons, stickers, etc..)

At the start of a chapter, you can buy new items for your tank and upgrade your units weapons and
armor. After buying a weapon, it will ask you if you want to equip it on all your troops.

Tip: When buying the upgraded your weapons ALWAYS say “いいえ (no)” to this.
This will keep whatever you had equiped on, but will auto-upgrade if you equipped that particular type of weapon. When you change classes be sure to give someone else the ACE weapon.
Here is an example of buying up the tank items, and personnel equipment.
It also shows how to equip items.

In some chapters you can unlock a new class by researching a new weapon. Look for the “?” menu item and buy it.
Here is an example of how to unlock the Heavy Gunner Class at the beginning of Chapter 6:

Beginning Player Tutorials – Part 1 Home Base

Hi Comrades,

A few people have asked for a real basic how to play the game (mainly menus and such). Aside from doing the actual missions, the most important part is going to Home Base. The other part is you need to move between maps, to access the Extra Missions, DLC Episode Missions and Character Based Story Missions. You Do this by pressing X out of the main map area and then using L or R buttons on the top of the PSP to move to the different areas(i.e. non chapter missions). Once you beat the final mission you can go back and redo any mission from any chapter; however, on your first play-through, once you finish a chapter you can’t go back and do the story based missions, only the free based missions (GREEN/BLUE).

Tutorial – Home Base

There are two main ways to go to the Nameless Home Base.
Getting to Home Base – Method 1:
Simply press Select and choose first option.

Getting to Home Base – Method 2:(Perhaps this more intuitive)
Move the cursor to the “Bronze Star” on any map and press Circle (O).

The Home Base has 6 areas of interest:

1. Tent Area – Your Cursor starts here choosing this Circle (O) returns to the previous map.
Cancel (X) from anywhere on this screen will do the same.

2. Weapons + Ammo R&D – The middle right option. (カリサ)Carissa’s shop is where you can
buy new accessories, weapons, armor and tank parts. At certain chapters you can research
new weapon frameworks and learning new kinds of weapons unlocks a new class.
This area also allows you to equip accessories and weapons on units.

3. Trainer – The bottom right option. This trainer is the brother of the trainer from VC1.
He will allow you to train your skills, assign your potentials, learn new orders.
After mastering other classes(3rd tier and unlocking the potentials), you
using the Master Table option to unlock a character’s high and super potentials.
You basically learn one new order per chapter. Be careful of advancing your skills
too much, as the enemies match your power in non-story missions (thus it advancing too fast makes
it harder to grind).

4. Mess Hall – Top right option. This lets you review previous tutorials and news.
The only point for reading all the news is for backstory but it will unlock 1 medal
post game if you go through all of the character profiles, news, and tutorials.

5. Outfit Tank Area – Top left option. This area allows you to change your tank type and equipment.
NOTE: You must buy the upgrades at Carissa’s shop, before you can change tank equipment.
The other reason you will come here is to REPAIR your tank if it gets destroyed during a mission.
It can be expensive so try not to blow it up!

6. Achievements Board – Bottom left option. This is where you can check your stats, mission ranking and medals. See the following video on how to check your Achievements:
